A bold lesson in geometry........

My architect gave me this beautiful colored rendering of our house which I am having framed as a memento, thought I would share it with you. He is really so talented.....it took awhile but we do love the finished product.

In today's decorating, you see it all...mixes of colors, patterns, styles and often times trends. It is almost as if the rule book has been thrown out. While I am more of a purist and tend to be a bit conventional when it comes to home decorating, I have seen many a quirky room that has caught my eye and that at times, I have concurred looks quite pretty. But, I am not sure if I would be ready to have a space like that in my own home. I prefer things quietly elegant, don't go bold very often and prefer more understated fabrics and papers.

That said, bold geometric shapes are making a big splash..you seem them on walls, in furniture frames, in mirrors, carpeting, vanities...there is not limit where you will find them. So today I salute this trend...it tends to be seen in more transitional/funky/modern homes and often you will see it in beach/coastal homes as well. It doesn't always have to be done in a modern or transitional way..you will see here some traditional rooms with geometric touches. As always, I love to know what you think, do you like the trend, could you live with the trend and last do you think its here to stay?

So what do you think? Boy, this IS a lively collection of rooms! Would you go bold and add a little geometric dash to any of the rooms in your house? I personally like it in accessories as opposed to a rug, or a piece of furniture or carpeting..think I could get tired of it but there is no doubt that many of the rooms above are fabulous looking! Hope you have an enchanted day!
