Yesterday Mr. Comforts of Home drove about 45 minutes over the mountain to Lake Lure, NC. Lake Lure was where the movie, Dirty Dancing was filmed.

My blogging friend Penny and her husband live on the lake and invited us over for a boat ride and dinner.

The sun was shining when we started the boat ride. Penny and her husband treated us to some wine and appetizers as we toured the lake.

Above is Mr. Lake Lure Cottage Kitchen. Look in the distance. Do you see the "cloud" dropping into the mountains? That is a rain storm that descended rapidly.
We were almost to the boat house and it opened up and started pouring.
The above picture was taken after we had docked in the boathouse. See the huge drops of rain on the lake?
We got a little wet, but after we dried off, Daisy, Penny's dog greeted us.
Penny's lake house is just beautiful! It has beautiful stone floors in the kitchen. Look at that wonderful French black cabinet with the chicken wire front!
Dinner was delicious. Penny made a sweet potato salad, coleslaw, squash casserole (recipe here) and Mr. Lake Lure Cottage Kitchen grilled pork tenderloin.
And for dessert.....the "sweet ending" part of this post, a wonderful coffee ice cream, dark chocolate crumb crust dessert with toasted almonds.
We had a wonderful time! Thank you Penny and Mr. Lake Lure Cottage Kitchen!
If you want some wonderful recipes, please visit Penny at her blog....she would love to see you!
Welcome Home,
Penny
