California Beach Cottage - White and serene

Happy Friday everyone! I will be on vacation next week, so I'm not sure how often I'll be posting. Since I will be at the beach, what's more fitting than a beach cottage house tour?

this kitchen is nice and bright - it might help me wake up in the morning.

The TV is hidden behind this vintage map - how cool is that?

A new favorite in my house tour collection...

This Ohio farmhouse is chock full of second hand, vintage, and antique furnishings and accessories, which simply make it really fun to tour. More than the house though, I love the grounds...
I love this shot...so peaceful

I adore this birdcage as decor, but I'm not really a fan of caging birds...

They scored the four poster bed on ebay.

This chicken coup used to be a cupola.

A shed is used as guest quarters.  I would probably use this as a painting studio though....

The sink is an old soapstone basin.

what do you think of the house and grounds?

My spring wishlist!

My apartment is still in cold weather mode, and could really use a little spring pep-up and some brighter color.  Here are a few things I just added to my list.

These pillows would be AMAZING on my couch or my bed...
This really pretty console table is on sale for only $186!  - A great choice if you love nature and organic shapes, but you aren't into full-on rustic decor.

I've had my eye on these tables for awhile - they're chic and I haven't seen them before.  I just don't think I have space for them right now...bummer.

I've always loved the lines of this chair.
What changes, if any, do you do to pep up your home for spring and the warmer months ahead?

PS:  If you like what you see here - it's all on sale at HauteLook.  If you're a member - go to their home section for these sales, if you aren't a member - you can use my link (it's fast and free to sign up).

It's beginning to look a lot like fall...

I do not like cold weather. I'd pick 90 degrees and humid over 30 degrees any day. However, I LOVE autumn. Hands down the best season for fashion, a number of outdoor activities, and the return of the sense of coziness.

A Vermont home - full of nature and autumn inspiration

This home is featured in the most recent issue of Country Living - and I really like it.  It's country but not too sweet, and nature-inspired, but does it in a unique way.  See below-

What initially attracted me to this story was the homeowner - Laura Zindel's amazing earthy ceramics. Perfect for Halloween! You can purchase and/or read more about her ceramics on her site.

Laura and her husband commissioned Amish craftsmen to make all the furniture in their dining room

The home has a an interesting history. The original owner supposedly turned down many potential buyers.  He kept meticulous records of the home, and wanted the new owners to respect it's history.  One such example is the wallpaper in the master bedroom, which was installed by the original owner's (an elderly man) mother.  Laura livened up the wallpaper with sunny curtains from Anthropologie.

A stunning modern (and elegant) farm house

This house by Kim Winkler is really unique. Rarely do you see such an amazing blend of dark, luxurious elegance paired with such rustic elements.

This picture has inspired me to maybe paint my bathroom black.... anyone here tried it?

stunning

I would never think to pair those chairs with that table, but it works really well imho.
