An East Village apartment by the Novogratz - A home with a vintage and scholarly air...

I'm sure most of you by now have heard of the designer husband and wife duo the Novogratz after the widespread popularity of their Rizzoli book, "Downtown Chic". Well, Rue Mag was awesome enough to feature one of their latest projects, a friend's small three bedroom, 1 bath apartment in the East Village. It has a sort of vintage, masculine vibe, and I also feel like the space has an academic feel to it.

Not only did they find the perfect rug, they found the perfect *rugs!  Layered vintage oriental rugs give the entire space an "old study" feel.

I'm seriously crushing over those gilt bamboo chairs

The Novogratz used paint to accent certain architectural details

Wall mounted, open shelves like these are a great way to make the most of limited space.

Gotta love french doors for the bedroom

What do you think of this East Village apartment?

Friday I SPY wishlist

Love this. Surround it with some glam chairs for an interesting contrast

Great for a small space since they're glass and have a very light visual weight.

Only $54.95 and striking good looks.

campy cute

A sweet, vintage tresure-filled Toronto home

A Monday pep-up for you! I love the modest, personality-filled character of this home.

Great light in this room!

Plants add so much life to a space.  We currently have 4 in our small living room.

I can't decide if this dining room would benefit from a flat-weave area rug.

A stunning modern (and elegant) farm house

This house by Kim Winkler is really unique. Rarely do you see such an amazing blend of dark, luxurious elegance paired with such rustic elements.

This picture has inspired me to maybe paint my bathroom black.... anyone here tried it?

stunning

I would never think to pair those chairs with that table, but it works really well imho.

A variety of delectable dining rooms

It's been awhile since I've posted some dining rooms. I've picked a handful of beautiful spaces in all different decorating styles, so hopefully atleast one strikes your fancy...

Love the table and mix n' match chairs in this Scandinavian beauty...

The salon-style wall and dark paint job makes this vintage-industrial dining room feel luxe.

I'm a big modern retro fan, but I don't know if I could go this all-out modern retro...

Even though this is an open floor plan layout, the dining room is still visually divided from the living room.

A potpourri of modern but cozy interiors

I've put together a little collection here of some interiors that I thought were modern, but still felt like home. They are peaceful, light-filled, and lovely. What do you think?

I like the shelf above the bed

a nice, bright work space

very french chic with an industrial twist

the rug is a bit much for me, but I like that this room isn't over-staged.
