What I missed at NY International Gift Fair 2012

I was all set to go to this summer's NYIGF when a last minute obligation came up.  I was a bit bummed as I haven't been to one yet, and I have been wanting to go for years now.  I will shoot again for 2013, and in the meantime, live vicariously from those lucky enough to attend.

Here is some of my favorite coverage and products.

Unsurprisingly, COCOCOZY's booth is a breath of beautiful fresh air...

Beautiful textiles for the home - Maresca Textiles

One of the easiest ways to give your home a freshening up for spring and summer is by changing out soft goods - pillows, throws, linens, etc...  I recently started this in my home, and was lucky to be introduced to Maresca Textiles,  a line by fellow RISD grad Kathryn Maresca.  Based in Savannah, GA, Maresca Textiles are always hand printed or embroidered in the USA, and inspired by the Southern low country.

Check out the aqua beauty I snagged for my sofa this spring.  My walls are a light aqua, and my couch an olive green.  I have always loved olive green and aqua together, and the color is perfect.   I also love the hand drawn, organic pattern - so cool!

Here are a few other favorites of mine that you can get at the Maresca Textiles Shop -

This pillow would also look fab on my couch...

Which is your fav?

Below are a few more of my favorite fabrics...

"Tribal Thread" - I would love to reupholster my dining chair cushions with this.

"Parisenne" - I think would make some really cute, conversation starting table linens - napkins, placemats, or a runner.

The fabric above, "Westminster," would make a really fabulous upholstered headboard.

"Iskander" would be great for throw pillows.

I can't wait to hear what everyone's favorites are, and the projects you'd use them for! Post your comments by Dec. 8th, 6 PM EST, and I will draw the winner at random and announce the lucky reader the next day!

Good luck!

Medeline Weinrib's inspiring, eclectic home

I've loved Weinrib's rugs and textile patterns before I even really knew much about interior design. They are classic, eclectic, and well-researched. That's why I was super excited to see her Manhattan loft featured in Elle Decor...

A lot of Weinrib's creations are seen throughout her home - including many of the drawings and rugs

In Manhattan - even Madeline Weinrib has a tiny kitchen...

That chair, that dresser, that rug... so pretty

Images from a fairy tale

Happy Friday everyone! Tuesday and Wednesday sorta merged for me, and I don't know where the week went. Anyway, I've had these images from an old ad campaign from Brunschwig & Fils, and I just love the whole enchanted look of these sets.

(CLICK ON EACH IMAGE FOR A LARGE VERSION)

I like the fireplace treatment in this one, I don't know if those are real sticks lined up vertically or a screen with an image, but I have never seen it before and think it's a great idea for a non-working fireplace.
These ads I first saw on 1st Dibs.

Inspirational wallpaper, rug, and textile patterns from the father of arts and crafts, William Morris

Just a tiny blurb about William Morris from Wikipedia:
"William Morris (24 March 1834 – 3 October 1896) was an English architect, furniture and textile designer, artist, writer, socialist and Marxist associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and the English Arts and Crafts Movement."

If you're not familiar with his work I'm sure you'll love it. His patterns are meant not to display geometric genius, but to honor nature. "He did not see the merits of a wholly geometrically inspired design and remained convinced through most of his life that nature was the only solution to a good design." - via The Textile Blog"

I love seeing work in progress

If you like his work a lot of gift shops and boutiques sell products with his patterns on them. You can find stationary and office supplies with his patterns here.

Gorgeous bedding and loungerie - sweet, lovely patterns!

It's taken me awhile to dig through my emails since moving - and I'm so glad I rediscovered an email introducing me to Plum Pretty Sugar. Made from fabrics the creator picks up in her travels throughout India - her "loungerie" and bedding mixes romantic exoticism with the chic simplicity of modern homes and women. I want so many of her products --- though I think that the "lounge cardigan" is calling my name the loudest!

The cardigan I mentioned - so pretty

I would also adore a knee-length kimono style robe in pink love poppy...so sweet

and some bedding in dreams in paisley!

Go to Plum Pretty Sugar's etsy shop to buy-
or to her flickr page to see her textiles in setting.
