A gorgeous apartment!

I watched the movie "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" a few weeks ago with a friend and was surprised at the gorgeous apartment/studio of Alex, Jessica Biel's character. The apartment has an eclectic feel with some traditional elements thrown in. The walls are painted light yellow, light blue, and are covered in paintings and photography. My clothes are nowhere near nice enough to hang on an open rack, but I like the look, especially with the exposed brick wall. I also like how the bed was visually separated by two curtains hanging at each end corner.

Decorate yourself for a change

So, I'm going off on a little bit of a tangent here. I've never really been interested in fashion, but I think my love of interior decorating has given way to an appreciation for it. So lets see how we do. I'll start with baby steps by sharing this really awesome jewelry I discovered. I was really intrigued by the first Iosselliani necklace I found, I'd never really seen anything like it! But it still wasn't so out there that one couldn't wear it unless on the red carpet. So I went to their site to read more about them, and check out more of their goods. Turns out they have stores in Italy, Europe, the Far East, Japan, the US, the Middle East, and you can shop online. Their prices aren't horribly outrageous at around €100 to €300 depending on the piece, some more or less.

My Iosselliani faves:

But look! You can get a similar look for a lot less dough at Urban Outfitters, and for a girl like me, this is the perfect solution, as I don't think I've ever spent more than $50 on jewelry - and that was a watch.

$38 will get you this necklace

The Office

While visiting my old workplace yesterday, I couldn't help but notice the lack attention paid to the aesthetics of the office. This is by no means uncommon, which if you think about it is surprising considering the amount of time we all spend in the office. It's been proven through and through that good office design can promote productivity. It doesn't take much to improve your workspace either. For example, add some orange to your cubicle, and it will aid creativity. Get a small desk lamp with an incandescent bulb, and give your eyes a rest from constantly flickering fluorescents. Add a small floor rug to make your space feel more like home, and hang art or pictures on your walls that motivate you.

A small rug or mat can take the industrial edge off your work station. UrbanOutfitters, $28
