Montmarte

The Montmarte area of Paris was one of my favorites.  Montmarte is mostly known for the white dome of the Basilica of the Sacre Couer (Sacred Heart Church), a nightclub disctrict (Moulin Rouge) and a haven for artist such as Salvador Dalí, Modigliani, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh.

Today it is still a very artist oriented community.  Let's stroll around Montmarte....

The Sacre Couer

Beautiful carvings above a door.  See the birds and nest?

A cute bistro

Windmills ....

Pablo Picaso lived in this building, as well as other famous artists.

I love this door!

A great old door knocker.

The Moulin Rouge

Local artists, selling their paintings on a square.  I didn't buy any of these.  They were all Paris scenes.  I waited until we were in Provence to buy a painting of the French countryside.

Next post, a Paris Flea Market....

Welcome Home,
Penny
