around the shop

Always new treasures to be found around the Willows.  I am sure there is something here waiting just for you or someone you love!  Come see us!

Liveable rooms full of attainable glamor...

This light-filled kitchen stays humble but pretty with simple, classic cabinets, and simple light fixtures.

A dark neutral adds instant elegance

This room is literally brought to life with plants.

I ADORE this bedroom. The bedding adds a lot of glamor, which is kept down-to-earth with a neutral, solid rug.

This room is very mid-century mod, but it doesn't feel overly gimmicky to me.

If you're scared of bold color or pattern - do it in a small space like an entryway or powder room first. I tend to think "big impact" is more interesting in small spaces anyway.

How have you added a little glam to your home while still keeping it liveable and low-maintenance?

The Loft

The loft has been put back together after the painting of the hutch and round table.  Here is how it looks today.

This is what it looked like before...

All of the furniture pieces remained, as well as the lamps, curtains and bird cage.  All I did was paint the hutch and table.  Added some art to the walls (I will show you what I did at the bottom of this post), and made some new blue toile pillows.

Here is the Bee table.

Edited to add this second picture of the bee table.  The bee looks off center in the first picture, but it is actually centered on the table.

For the "art" on the wall, I painted an old black frame, white and then stained it with dark wax.  The actual "art" is a piece of toile fabric, that I literally duct taped onto cardboard.

I did like the red and black, but the red and blue seem less heavy.  I would like to add a Persian rug in reds and blues in the area too, someday.

I think I will enjoy this change.

Guest posting today at Haus Design!

Good morning to all my lovely readers...hope your week is going well. I am so excited to be over at my friend, Barbara's blog, Haus Design. I was thrilled she asked me to participate in a new series she is running, Design in five, about five things I would want to do or feel the need to do if starting with a blank room. I hope you will pop on over and visit me there.

Barbara is just the sweetest, such a gracious and classy person, she has a beautiful eye for elegant European influenced furnishings and her blog is always a divine treat for the senses. On top of that she is soon going to be opening her online store which I know will be a big hit with her fabulous taste and incredible resources from all over in Europe. She lives in Munich, Germany so I love hearing and seeing the unique perspective she offers. In any case, please come on over and visit me there and discover Haus Design if you are not yet already familiar with her blog, you are promised a real treat! See you there!

By the way for some of you who asked about the results of last weeks, "Which would you choose' here are the results.....

first friday flea market coming!

We are so excited about this coming Friday's Flea Market!  It is certainly sizing up to be our very best yet!  To start things off, we will be hosting the always lovely Polly from our old favorite Chestnut Lane who will be setting up a pop-up cafe right here at the Willows!  We will set up a bistro table and it will be just like a real little French Flea Market!

Of course, we will have some of our always fabulous vendors including Lisa Nicodemus selling star ornaments, Carla Bowers selling paper wreaths, Jackie B. selling jewelry, Ricki selling stationary and "party in a box", Coventry Frames selling quote frames, B. Belle Couture selling baby accessories, Joshua By Oak selling printed pillows, Janis Hughes selling jewelry, the ladies from Library selling this and that and Martha will be here (this one we are really excited about) selling her amazing Rum Cakes (you will probably want to buy one for a friend and one just for you!).  And, if you are still searching for that perfect holiday outfit, all apparel will be 20% off to assist you in finding just what you have been looking for!  You are not going to want to miss this month's flea market!  And, as always, we will have coffee and donuts, so come enjoy the morning and get into the holiday spirit from 10 - 2 this Friday!

Another little goody we are adding on to this month's flea market, will be some fabulous wreath-making!  For just $25 you can sit down and be instructed in how to make your very own holiday wreath with the help from the ladies of the Willows and take it home to enjoy all season long!  Supplies are limited, so be sure to get there early to make a wreath you will want to hang back up every Christmas to come!

And, while you are here, feel free to set anything you love aside and send your husband back that evening to enjoy Men's Night Out with lots of delicious food and beer and some shopping just for you.  Jewel-Ya and Dos Fannies will be here selling their jewelry and all the lovely ladies of the Willows will be able to help your husband get you that perfect gift (and wrap it up splendidly, as well!).

Hope to see you all this Friday!
